When meeting new people, one of the
first things college students do is decide if there could ever be a possible
relationship with this person. How could something this important be known with
a simple handshake and exchange of smiles? Often times when relationships form too
quickly with acquaintances, physical and emotion feelings are mixed in with the
growing pains of friendships. This is a huge issue because instead of being
able to work out a simple misunderstanding, everything becomes personal and has
more impact on each other.
So my newfound realization goes
against every bro code rule ever made. It is, that real relationships start
with true friendship. This defies the laws of society because no man ever wants
to be in the “friend zone”, but I’m starting to question whether that even
exists. For a girl or guy to use the excuse, “we are too good of friends to
date,” is a nice way of saying you’re not my first choice for a
boyfriend/girlfriend. In the end though, the friend zone excuse is the best
answer one could receive. It’s the best because it states blatantly that, “you
are not good enough for me to date.” The proper reaction to this cold-hearted
excuse is to understand that no matter how long you wait, and that even if you
emerge from the friend zone in the eyes of your love interest, you will never
be happy in life. The reason one could never be happy is that, no one should ever have to be second rate to the one they love. This is the key to true happiness. Mutual
unselfish love has to exist in order for there to be a happily ever after. Always remember to hold out for that special
someone to enter your life, never be second rate, and always “Fly solo until
you are first class!” in the eyes of your lover.
