Soaring Above The Rest

So what is the overall cause, of the apparent decline of the United States of America? This question could be the answer that could turn America back into a leading innovator and empire of the world!

As Eagle Scout that was selected as a leading young man out of 434 other Eagle Scouts from around the state of Tennessee, I have began to evaluate the relevance that scouting has to the way America operates. Scouting was started in 1910 and just recently celebrated its 100^th year of operation. It teaches basic outdoor skills, and gives young boys the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in a society monopolized video gaming and Internet. Above all though it teaches leadership by allowing certain boys to lead there peers understand how communication and other aspects apply to effective leadership. At the start of scouting the Eagle Scout rank was established as the highest rank a young man could attain. To become an Eagle Scout, was very prestigious in the early history of scouting.

The sad truth and with the highest relevance to the decline of this nation is that the standards of the Eagle Scout rank have steadily declined over the years. Men that would have never had the moral and social stamina to earn Eagle are now being accepted and handed the rank. Weakened leadership is the major cause of a declining empire. Ultimately the rise of scouting and the rise of this country are direct parallels, and the fall of scouting’s values will also be in parallel with the decline of the United States of America.
